About Me
Akuba Torvikey is an award-winning product developer with a passion for innovation, consumer insights and product testing. From legacy to startup beauty brands, she’s worked with dozens of multi-million dollar hair care and cosmetic brands to deliver bottom line growth through innovation. Akuba has tested, launched and reformulated 175 products across several multi-million dollar brands and categories. Akuba currently serves the Director of Product Development for PATTERN Beauty by Tracee Ellis Ross.
Akuba stays busy with PATTERN Beauty, but she is steadfast in her mission to ensure there’s a seat at the table for everyone. In 2020, she launched the Breedlove Accelerator for Black-owned beauty and wellness companies. She’s also the founder of a professional community called Beautywise, which brings together Black product developers for networking and introducing grade school students to product development as a career option.

BeautyWise encourages discussion, networking, resource & idea-sharing for beauty professionals of color who work in Product Development (entrepreneurs, chemists, NPD, R&D etc.) in the hair care, skincare or cosmetic industry nationwide.
